City of Brooklet - Important Ordinance Update on Outdoor Burning
as a reminder the Mayor and City Council approved ordinance number 2025–0 2–10 updating chapter 38 of the city code to enhance public safety and reduce fire hazards within the city limits.
Outdoor Burning Now Prohibited
Burning the following materials is no longer allowed in the city of Brooklet:
- lawn trimmings
- leaves
- pine straw
- trash or rubbish of any kind
What Is Still Allowed
The ordinance does permit the following activities when conducted safely:
- cooking fires (grills, smokers, etc.)
- Recreational fires in fire pits, chimneys, and similar enclose devices using natural wood only
- devices that use controlled flames such as candles, lanterns, welding torches, blow torches and portable heaters
Safety Requirements
All permitted fires must meet these conditions:
- an adult 18+ must be present at all times until the fire is fully extinguished
- a connected water hose or other adequate fire extinguishing equipment must be immediately available
- the city or it's designee may prohibit or extinguish any fire, if weather or circumstances make it unsafe or if it poses a nuisance to others
Penalties for Violations:
- First violation: Fine up to $50
- Subsequent violations: Fine up to $500 and/or up to 6 months imprisonment

The water is back on in the area of South Cromly Rd., Lewis Street, and Waters

- The water has been restored in the area of South Cromley, Water Street, and Lewis Street, Wednesday, December 3rd at 4:35 AM.
Alert from City of Brooklet: EMERGENCY: Temporary water outage in the area of South Cromley, Water Street, and Lewis Street, Wednesday, December 3rd at 12:08 AM. The recent fire hydrant repair has failed and will need to be addressed again. As a result the water will be shut off immediately, while crews make the necessary repairs in the area of South Cromley, Waters Street, and, Lewis Street today,Wednesday December 3rd effective immediately. The estimated time of the shutoff is unknown at this time but is suspected to last through the early morning. The city will keep you updated with any changes.
